But this was a good reminder. The internet is strange, because I have a pretty strong suspicion you would be a great hang and a blast to smoke a pipe with, even if we have some competing convictions. Which is the exact sort of environment to work through those sorts of disagreements. “Just be jolly” should probably be my number one disagreement rule, especially on the internet.
I go into these conversations with a general underlying goal. I think that sorts most things. I add a bit more patience, but that can be derivative of the goal or simply age. It's less abstract.
So what you're saying is, "Act justly, Love mercy, Walk humbly." Could swear I've heard that somewhere....

I love the term “steelman” as the opposite of “strawman.” Less instantly gratifying but definitely the way to go
