I feel like St. Justin Martyr, whose apologetic included a lot of discussion about Christianity as fulfilling all of the best in paganism, would have gone crazy about your post if he were alive today. We need more people like you talking about these kinds of things because Christ is present in a lot more of—what's left of—our common cultural values than unbelievers realize.
Beowulf has always been special to me and I have no idea why. There is something magical about it, in the sense that it has touched me in ways that few other books have. I've never really thought about reading it through an explicitly Christian lens, though. I'll pull out my copy and reread it.
